We had a very short period of time in our lives raising our AKC registered Pekingese and AKC registered Shih Tzu from show quality parents and Champions gathered from around the world from some of the best known show breeders. We started PEEKABOO PUPPIES as coma recovery therapy for my daughter, Christina Nichole Thornsberry in 2005 by purchasing our first show quality puppies to begin our new adventure.
We always played with the idea of showing but found we were simply not into that part of life with our outstanding pets. We bred a few wonderful and beautiful litters between 2007 and 2009 and then stopped having any litters and had most of our intact dogs spayed and neutered and were working toward having all of them altered. In June 2010 we lost many of our forever family pets in our house fire. It was too heart breaking and traumatic to put into words.

We remain active with our dogs. They are family to us, and every day is about them. We have added some new show Pekingese puppies and amazing Champions to our family household since our fire took so many of them. The adults are AKC, UKC, and International Champions from around the world and the puppies are litters where both parents are Champions. They are all gorgeous and make our hearts skip a beat just looking at them. Holding them is pure joy and is helping us heal after losing most of our previous show Pekes in our house fire in 2010. Special thanks to Gwenn Nash of Katering Pekingese, Rodney and Raisa Dayton of Northwind Pekingese, and Heather Hiller of DeGray’s Pekingese for these wonderful new members of our forever family!

We had not planned to have any more litters after 2009. However, since the fire we decided that once in awhile we may want to have new puppies. Not for coma recovery therapy, showing, or breeding for income. We will just do it for the love and joy of it… and rarely!

Hi Judy,
We are somewhat distantly “related”. We acquired our peke, “Katering’s Sweet Molly Malone”,(she descends from Candlelite Parti and a Finnfaire) 11 years ago from Gwen and Rodney. She is the queen of the house and we love her to death. I think her wardrobe is larger than mine! We are thinking of getting a companion for her and may be contacting you about that at some point soon. We are both well employed and have no kids, Molly enjoys running the house and ruling the 2 cats, but as they are 17 years old, they don’t enjoy her attention. We want to she how she will get along with another peke before we decide.
Hi Judy;
I have been reading your amazing story. You could write a book based on the tremendous amount of both tragedy and inspiration you have experienced in the past few years. I am so sorry you lost your pets. So sad, but kudos for your volunteer work in the shelters. I’m sure many wonderful animals have been saved as a result of your efforts.
I found you today as I was researching Peke breeders in Washington state. We have a beautiful little girl pekingese named Mizuki. Mizuki is also eighteen months. We are wanting to find a little boy for companionship and hopefully one litter of puppies. Buddy looks sweet and at perfect in age. Is he fixed, and is he still available? Just to give you a little of our background, my family and I live in Lynden where I teach yoga and martial arts. I have two kids, 10 and 13. We are all animal lovers, but my husband calls me Dr. Doolittle for my propensity at attracting and often rescuing animals.
Please contact me to let me know if you still have buddy!
